To sum up, the abovementioned inventive idea is suitable for achieving as great as possible a degree of elasticity in a shoe sole. This is achieved in the most optimum manner in that there exists inside a normal shoe sole a cavity which is surrounded in an airtight manner by flexible material. Projecting into the latter, reachable from outside, is a valve, and by means of an air pump this abovementioned cavity can then be filled with air, it being possible in this process to regulate the air quantity as required. This pneumatic health shoe sole can best be compared to the known air-filled car tyres and other air-sprung tyre equipment of vehicles. The most optimum cushioning for sport shoes is achieved with this air-sprung shoe sole, but use would also be desirable in orthopaedics. In this connection, sports injuries of the joints, ligaments and muscles are considerably reduced and secondly existing complaints are reduced or completely avoided, such as e.g. signs of degeneration of the extremities etc.
