Anilines I ≮R',R"(same of different) are C1, alkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy (at least one of R' and R" is C1, and one or two of the remainder can be H); one of X' and X" is C1 and the other is C1, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkoxy, aralkoxy, H≉was contacted with H over a group VIII metal in mixts. contg. group IB, IIB, IIIA, IVA, and Va metal cations to yield mchloroanilines. Thus, 2,3,4,5-Cl4C6HNH2 was contacted with H over Pd in a mixt. contg. T1C1 at 160oC to give 96.8% 3,5-Cl2C6H3NH2.
