PURPOSE:To use a file efficiently, by forming a directory section from the upper limit of the extent of a sectional editing file and a data section from a lower limit of the extent of said file. CONSTITUTION:A member and a directory section 2 are provided for an area on a direct access volume. In writing a member, a directory entry representing the name of the member and the head address of the member is added to the directory section 2. The directory section 2 is formed from the upper limit of the extent of the file 1 and the data section 3 is formed from the lower limit of the extent of the file 1. |
