To produce very smooth and very light fur clothing, a method is proposed, in which a pelt is stretched out and fixed, then cut from one end to the other and back, beginning in one corner, into a succession of adjacently connected, thread-like strips of equal width in such a way that a single continuous thread-type pelt strip is produced, the pelt being cut from the flesh side, a clothing part being knitted or woven directly from the thread-type pelt strips thus produced or after prior twisting, and the different clothing parts are finally connected to one another in accordance with the desired garment in any suitable manner, preferably invisible by knitting them together by means of a thread-type pelt strip. <IMAGE>
