A spiral staircase (10) is assembled from inner units (11) and outer units (12), together with an equal number of treads (13). The inner and outer units (11, 12) are similar except in width. Each unit (11, 12) has a pair of upper fixing positions (14, 15) and a pair of lower fixing positions (16, 17) which lie on the corners of an imaginary parallelogram. Adjacent units are fixed by horizontally disposed angled bolts (20) passing through upright slotted or apertured portions of the units and also through a wedge member (19) to hold them at the correct angle for forming the spiral staircase. The rise between adjacent treads (13) can be adjusted by adjustment means (Figures 4 and 5). <IMAGE> |
