PURPOSE:To produce a ribbon of a uniform thickness having no recessed grooves by melting metal or alloy, injecting the same under application of ultrasonic oscillations and cooling the metal or alloy quickly. CONSTITUTION:A base alloy for a ribbon is inserted ino a crucible 1 consisting of quartz or the like, and is melted with a heating means such as a heater. The molten alloy in this molten alloy bath 2 is injected under prescribed pressure through the gap part 4 of the nozzle 3 provided at the bottom of the crusible 1. In the stage of injecting the alloy, ultrasonic oscillations are applied to the alloy by an ultrasonic oscillator 8 mounted in the upper part of the crucible 1, and the molten alloy is injected onto the surface of a rotating cooling roll 6 consisting of copper, SUS or the like, whereby the alloy is cooled quickly and a ribbon 7 is produced. Thus, even when the gap part 4 is clogged with foreign matter is broken by the ultrasonic oscillations and the rate of injection is made uniform. |
