Herbicidal sulfonamides, and preparation and use thereof, the sulfonamides having the general formula <CHEM> wherein R1 is H, halogen, methyl, methoxy or nitro, R2 is NCO or various derivatives thereof, X and Z are methyl or various alkoxy groups, Y is CH or N. The compounds may be made e.g. by appropriate isocyanate/amine condensation reactions. They may be formulated for agricultural use in conventional manner and used as herbicides or plant growth regulants. |
