PURPOSE:To reduce the probability to cause reading errors, by detecting and storing the optimum reading conditions after reading the reference signal stored in a magnetic recording medium and performing the subsequent reading operations under the optimum reading conditions. CONSTITUTION:A reference signal part 15a is provided to a magnetic recording medium 11, and the reference signal stored at the part 15a is read by a magnetic head 31. This reference signal is evaluated at a conditions storage controlling part 39 via an amplifier 32 and a waveform forming circuit 33. Then the optimum reading conditions are set and stored. When general information 15 is read out, the part 39 gives an indication to an arithmetic controller 36 so that the controller 36 works under the stored optimum conditions. Then the part 39 controls the amplifier 32, the circuit 33 and a driving control part 37 under the optimum conditions. Thus the stored information can be assured reduced with a reduced number of errors. |
