PURPOSE:To obtain golden external parts for a wrist watch with enhanced corrosion resistance, wear resistance and decorativeness by wet plating a base metal such as a Cu alloy with a corrosion resistant metal (alloy) and coating the plated metal with a titanium nitride film by an ion plating method. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a base metal such as brass, German silver, other Cu alloy or stainless steel is plated with Pd (alloy) or Au (alloy) with superior corrosion resistance by a wet plating method. The plated metal is then coated with a film consisting essentially of titanium nitride by an ion plating method. The plated layer formed by the wet plating method enables the coating of the film at a low temp. Accordingly, golden external parts for a wrist watch with superior corrosion resistance and high wear resistance can be obtd. inexpensively without deteriorating the base metal. |
