PURPOSE:To obtain a composition for oral cavity having improved feeling in use, good appearance and stability, by stirring an aqueous vehicle comprising an alkali metal salt of carbocymethylcellulose having a specific substitution degree as a main caking agent at a specific shear rate, adding powder to it. CONSTITUTION:In preparing a composition for oral cavity such as toothpaste, etc. by adding an adrasive, etc. to an aqueous vehicle containing a caking agent, an alkali metal salt of carboxymethylcellulose having a substitution degree of <= 0.6, preferably 0.35-0.6 is used as the main caking agent, and the aqueous vehicle containing the alkali salt is stirred at a shear rate of >=3,000sec<-1>, preferably 5,000-30,000sec<-1>, for >=1 minutes preferably for >=5 minutes, so that a stable pasty composition for oral cavity having fineness and good appearance, not causing liquid separation even by long-term storage is obtained. |
