The electrode (1) is for measurement of electrical activity in a patient's heart, as in electrocardiography, and is for one-time usage. It comprises a plate (2) lined with a layer (6) of electrically conductive metal suspension. On the same side as the lining, the plate has an adhesive fixture for attachment of the electrode to the patient's skin. The plate (2) is of pliable plastics material, and also has a non-adhesive extension part (4) which likewise has a layer (6) of conductive metal suspension. It is this extension that connects to the measurement equipment. The metal suspension used comprises silver particles with a solvent, treated with chlorine, and, prior to usage, the electrode is placed on a protective strip with the adhesive section turned inwards. The electrode also has a contact surface which fits into an aperture in the protective strip to enable a gel to be applied to it. (Provisional Basic advised week K03) |
