Disclosed is a device and method for receiving traffic information of a vehicle. According to one aspect of the present invention, the purpose of the present invention is as follows. Traffic information is received in response to unlocking a door of a vehicle. Thus, the traffic information is already received, so can be utilized by the time functions of a navigation are activated after a user gets in the vehicle. In addition, according to another aspect of the present invention, the other purpose of the present invention is as follows. The traffic information is received using another communication method other than digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) when the vehicle is in an environment where the DMB cannot be received. Thus, the traffic information can smoothly be received without disconnection. In order to achieve these purposes, the device for receiving traffic information of a vehicle in accordance with the present invention, comprises: a communication signal processing unit; a navigation driving unit which processes traffic information to display the traffic information on a navigation screen; a control unit which requests provision of non-periodic traffic information from a first traffic information provider in response to unlocking a door of a vehicle when the door of the vehicle is unlocked, and receives the traffic information provided by the first traffic information provider to display the traffic information on the navigation screen. |
