PURPOSE:To protect a titled rod perfectly from the spatters by covering the detecting rod with a blank material to which the spatters are difficult to stick slightly spacially from the detecting rod so as not to hamper the turning of the said rod. CONSTITUTION:This covering 9 for preventing spatters consists of a copper pipe or the like which is worked by cutting to be formed with a suitable number of the slits 10, 10- from the top end down to a slightly lower position, so that it has a split spring effect. The top end part 11 imparted with the spring characteristic is fitted onto the bottom end 13 of an outer cylinder 12 of a detector so that the covering 9 covers approximately the entire part of a detecting rod 5. The cut end at the bottom end 14 of the covering 9 is matched to the angle of the installation of the detector 3 to the welding base material and is made approximately level with the base metal. Since the covering 9 is made of a metal of good heat conductivity, the heat of the stuck spatters is diffused quickly, and therefore the melting of the surface of the covering 9 and its melt sticking by the spatters are less caused. |
