<p>A hand appliance for injecting highly viscous liqds. in humane medicine is intended esp. for treating varicose veins in the oesophagus by injecting phenol almond oil with a hollow needle introduced along an endoscope. The appliance comprises a hand-operated, high-pressure injection pistol (1) with a seating for the syringe (3) and a metal piston (4, 4a, 4b) which acts against the plunger (5) of the syringe. The syringe can be stopped in any position by means of a self-locking lever system (6). Pref. the piston has a semicylindrical metal trough (11) with front stop (12) for retaining the syringe (3), and is lined with elastic plastics material (13) beneath the syringe. This arrangement enables the necessary high pressure up to 15 bar to be produced due to the leverage of the hand operated trigger (16) and thus makes it possible for a reasonable quantity of several ml. of the very highly viscous liq. to be injected in one operation. Thus the repetitions previously required due to the minute quantities per injection are eliminated. Injected doses up to 10ml can be achieved.</p> |
