PURPOSE:To increase the overall process efficiency, by providing a magnetic tape/disk common controller plus a magnetic disk exclusive controller and using both controllers to control only the disk device and the common controller to control the tape, respectively. CONSTITUTION:When a CPU1 gives no access to a magnetic tape device 16, access is given to magnetic disk devices 10-15 connected to magnetic disk adaptors 7 and 8 through the CPU1 and a main storage device 2 via the 1st channel device 3 and a magnetic disk exclusive controller 5. At the same time, access is possible in the same way to the devices 10-15 by the CPU1 and the device 2 via a magnetic tape/disk common controller 6. When access is given to the device 16, a route passing through the controller 6 and the device 4 is connected to a magnetic tape adaptor 9 after setting the device 16 in the magnetic tape control mode. Thus access is carried out to the device 16. In such way, the overall process efficiency can be increased. |
