Propeller shaft balancing system - fusion welds weight to shaft, weld being formed in aperture surrounding weight centre of gravity

The rotor-balancing system welds one or more balance weights to the rotor, being particularly for motor vehicle propeller shafts. Each weight (2) is fusion-welded to the rotor (1). There are one or more apertures (5) formed in the weight, and/or round its centre of gravity. Welding can be by the submerged-arc, wolfram-inert-gas, metal-inert-gas, or plasma process, the electrode being mounted inside an annular nozzle supplying the gas and fitting inside the balance weight aperture, guides (9,10,11) directing the nozzle into the aperture.
