The two innermost rows of the creel may be made up of the upstanding bobbins 6, 7 and the two outermost rows may be made up of the hanging bobbins 4, 5. The bobbins 6, 7 have thread guides 9 at their upper ends and these guides may also act as yarn brakes. There may be a ball brake in each thread guide 9. Each thread guide 9 may be in the shape of an umbrella such that its outer periphery overlaps the diameter of the bobbin. The staple fibres 40, 50 pass through a drafting mechanism 8 before being wound with the endless thread. The arrangement is stated to save space and facilitate doffing and donning. |
