A storage rack having cantilever brackets whose root ends are U shaped so as to embrace a column. The column comprises a pair of channel shaped side members (25, 26) of relatively thin gauge metal and a pair of end members (27, 28) welded to the flanges (31, 32) of the side members, the end members being relatively thick metal plates.
