PURPOSE:To reduce the manufacturing cost of a mold core by tapering the tip part of the covering layer of an optical fiber and by transferring and molding the covering layer and the external circumference of a fiber wire with resin. CONSTITUTION:A covering layer 4 at the tip of an optical fiber 5 is removed to expose a fiber wire 1. This optical fiber 5 is inserted into a glass pipe 7 which has small hole 6 where the wire 1 is tightly fitted and a taper part 8 and is heated up to the melting point of the covering layer 4 and the tip of the covering layer 4 is tapered. After the glass pipe 7 is detached, the covering layer 4 and the external circumference of the wire 1 are transfer-molded with resin except the tip part 11 of wire 1. On molding, the fiber 5 is removed and a mold core 10 is formed. Thus, special precise work is not required, so the manufacturing cost is reduced. |
