<p>The maize-harvesting machine has a gathering mechanism with horizontal straw choppers driven by a main transverse shaft to pulverise the stems. The chopper blades slope slightly downwards in the travel direction. Mounted on the main shaft (1) is a sprocket (4) driving, via a chain (5), a further sprocket (6) on a layshaft. The latter in turn drives via gears (11,12) two cutting tools with radial blades (8,9). The gears can be accommodated in a gearbox (15) and are adjustable on the shaft (1). The design allows simple adjustment to suit varying distances between the rows of plants.</p> |
