PURPOSE:To enable PIG discharge to be controlled by placing a controlling electrode, which is insulated from both an anode and cathode and penetrates the hollow center of the anode, parallel to the direction of a magnetic field, and thereby regulating the potential difference between the anode and the controlling electrode. CONSTITUTION:A cold-cathode triode is constituted of a cylindrical anode 1, a pair of cathodes 3 and 4, a vacuum vessel 5, lead wires 6 and 7, a magnetic-field producing device 8, and a controlling electrode 9 which is led outside the vessel 5 by means of a lead wire 12. The controlling electrode 9 penetrating the hollow center 2 of the anode 1, is located apart from the center axis of the hollow cylindrical center 2, and is placed parallel to the magnetic field produced by the magnetic-field producing device 8. The controlling electrode is earthed by means of an input unit 25 serving for maintaining variable voltages. |
