For remaking a path, which has become damaged by natural settlement or erosion, on the inclined slope of a railway embankment, piles (10) are driven in at spacings along the embankment and support plates (13) are attached successively to the ends of the piles (10) projecting from the slope. The space comprised between the slope of the ballast bed (3) and the support plates (13) is filled with filling material (15) and this is levelled to form the path. Before the filling material (15) is filled into said space, the region of the embankment body surrounding the support plates (13) is sluiced with a medium, such as cement slurry, which consolidates the embankment material. The sluicing of this medium takes place by means of the tubular piles (10), which are designed as injection lances, with lateral openings (11), through which the cement slurry is sluiced into the embankment material. <IMAGE>
