1285944 Centrifugal pumps; engine fuel systems CHANDLER EVANS Inc 29 Aug 1969 [4 Sept 1968] 43220/69 Headings F1C and F1G In a system for pumping a liquid together with large quantities of vapour, e. g. for delivery of fuel to an aircraft jet engine, having a centrifugal boost pump 12 and a downstream series-connected gear pump 16, excess fuel delivered to pump 16 and returning to pump 12 via line 24 combines with unused fuel returned through line 22 and powers an ejector pump 26 which draws off vapour through line 30 from various parts of the system and compresses and returns it to the main fuel stream at an intermediate region of the pump whereby it is redissolved. An oil cooler or the like can be arranged between the pumps 12, 16. The ejector pump has a removable throat element 36 so that its flow characteristics can be altered. |
