PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording method capable of stably overwriting without insufficiently overwriting due to setting a low level laser beam intensity too low cansing an sufficient erasure. SOLUTION: In this method, recording laser beam intensity for recording on an overwritable optical recording medium is decided. In such a case, the lower limit value of the laser beam intensity by which a high temp. process occurs, is obtained, and a high level laser beam intensity is set temporarily based on the value, and after a magnetization inversion mark is formed on a test recording area by the value, the test recording area is reproduced. Thereafter, after the test recording area is irradiated with a laser beam, and the magnetization inversion mark is erased, the test recording area is reproduced, and by comparing regenerative signals before/after the mark is erased, the optimum low level laser beam intensity is decided. |
