Communication system for facsimile transmission via secure modem

An interface card has three bi-directional connections. One is connected to a first fax machine, one to a computer, and one to a communication network. Data that are received from the first fax machine or from the computer are delivered to the communication network by the interface card. The interface card converts data from the computer from class-I fax protocol to class-II protocol. A secure modem is connected between the communication network and the interface card. Also claimed is a method of communication between a computer, a fax machine and a modem. A multifunction interface is also claimed.
