Ventilator and radiator assembly for railway vehicle - is mounted on vehicle roof and contains several intermediate chambers each with fan on support chassis

The ventilators and radiators for cooling the engine of a railway locomotive are assembled on the roof. It also provides housing for condenser equipment for the heating system. The roof assembly has several intermediate chambers formed in a single assembly which has a low profile for low aerodynamic drag. The roof equipment (18) comprises a number of enclosures (44) which are located between intermediate chambers. These house a ventilator fan (48) on a support chassis. Radiators (50) are mounted on foam rubber (51) or supports on the periphery to isolate them from vibrations. Covers over the radiators comprise long perforated plates. The whole assembly has a rubber joint below the lower plate which mounts on the vehicle roof (20). This assembly is fixed by bolting to two long panels on the roof.
