<p>Benzonitrile derivs. of formula (I) and their esters, amides and salts are new: (where Z is a direct bond or an alkylene gp.; X is NR1R2 or COOH; Y is H or COOH; R1 is H or lower alkyl; and R2 is lower acyl). (I) are useful as X-ray contrast agents (e.g. for urography, angiography, myelography or cholesgraphy) or as intermediates for X-ray contrast agents. They are less toxic than 5-acetylamino-2,4,6-triiodoisophthalic acid and amidotrizoic acid.</p> |
