NEW MATERIAL:A thiazolo[3, 2-a]pyrimidine derivative of formula I: [R is (un)substituted alicyclic, phenyl, or aralkyl group]. EXAMPLE:6-Phenyl-5H-6, 7-dihydro-5, 7-dioxothiazolo[3, 2-a]pyrimidine. USE:Anti-inflammatory agents and immunity adjustors having anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic actions. PROCESS:The compound of formula II is reacted with a compound of formula III: (R<1> is halogen or lower alkyl group) under heating to give a compound of formula IV, which is cyclized in the presence or absence of a solvent at 80-320 deg.C, preferably 100-300 deg.C, to form the compound of formula I.
