PURPOSE:To obtain methacrylonitrile with a high selectivity and yield, by bringing isobutylene into contact with ammonia and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst having improved stability and abrasion resistance, comprising Mo, Bi, and Fe. CONSTITUTION:Isobutylene or its mixture with tert-butanol is brought into contact with NH3 and oxygen in the gaseous phase in the presence of a catalyst comprising a composition of formula I: {A is one or more types of elements selected from K, Rb, and Cs; a, b, f, n, p, and q are atomic ratios of constituents based on one atom of Mo; a is 0.002-0.06; b, f, and n are numbers of formulas II, III, and IV[X and Y are numbers within the tetragon surrounded by the points (0.45, 0.35), (0.45, 0.65), (0.85, 0.50), and (0.85, 0.65); Z is 0-0.6]; p is 0-0.2; q is the number of atoms of O requined}, supported on silica, at a high temperature. |
