Voluminous machine cardboard for the prodn., esp. pressing or deep drawing, of packaging materials, e.g. trays, for moist and/or greasy foods, has a multi- (2- or 3-) layer structure contg. an additive (I) cured by heat and pressure. The dimensional stability, absorptivity, wet strength and grease proofness can be suited to the requirements individually. (I) may be melamine-urea resin aq. soln. for controlling stiffness and dimensional stability; acrylic ester copolymer aq. dispersion for imparting water resistance; or aq. alcoholic PVA or fluorocarbon resin soln. to impart oil repellancy.
