1506019 Washing ion-exchange resin AJINOMOTO CO Inc 27 March 1975 [28 March 1974 (2)] 12910/75 Heading B1J A process of washing an ion-exchange resin in bead form comprises agitating a resin bed in which a suspensoid has been deposited mainly in the upper layer and to which a liquid supply has been stopped and which is filled with rinse water, so as to suspend the suspensoid in the rinse water, discharging the rinse water and suspensoid until the space between beads is substantially empty, and filling the space with fresh water or a liquid supplied in the next operation. The agitation may be by gas bubbled up through the bed. The bed may then be back washed in a conventional way. The examples all relate to treating fermentation broths with stronglyacidic cation-exchange resins. |
