Sleeve-shaped end pieces for optical fibres whose naked end is inserted into the central bore of a watchmaker's stone (4) fastened to a sleeve end and centred and fixed there, are already known. The present invention describes a technique by means of which it is possible to use the known technical operation to mount in the end piece even fibres provided with a plastic coating (21). In this case, two particular basic problems are solved, specifically the defective centring of the optical fibre core (1) in the plastic coating (21), and, in addition, the problem of the loss of light due to the exit of the light "sideways" from the naked core, i.e. along its cylindrical longitudinal surface, into the adhesive (5). The first problem is solved by peeling off the plastic coating (21) at the fibre end and re-embedding the exposed fibre core (1) in an appropriate adhesive (5). The second problem, the escape of the light, is addressed by applying a highly reflective layer (6) around the naked fibre core. <IMAGE> |
