This invention relates to an improvement in a process for removing gaseous vinyl chloride monomer from a vent gas stream containing water, carbon dioxide, vinyl chloride, and other atmospheric gases. The process comprises cooling the vent gas stream to a temperature of from about -200 DEG F to about -240 DEG F for condensing the vinyl chloride, separating the condensed vinyl chloride from the noncondensed stream, and then recovering the refrigeration from the resulting stripped vent gas.
