<p>The travelling elevator-platform for e.g. welding, cutting or machining operations with accessibility problems has a column (3) supporting a cantilever arm (9, 15). The platform (3) is mounted pivotably on the free end of the arm which includes a hinge (11) at an intermediate point. The three hinges (7, 11, 13) permit rotation about horizontal axes. A system of motor-driven chains (19, 22) and gear wheels (18, 20, 23) may control the variable interrelationship of the column and arm. The working platform (2) is kept level and stabilised by counterweights (10, 17). The column (3) may rotate about its vertical axis to increase the mobility of the assembly. Separate motors on the platform (2) can control the angular relationship between the column (3) and the arm (9). A control unit may be programmed to displace the platform along a predetermined path.</p> |
