<p>1483752 Lamp holders LUCAS ELECTRICAL Ltd 6 Jan 1975 [29 Jan 1974] 3983/74 Heading H2E An electrical adapter comprises a hollow electrically insulating body 10 having a circular substantially planar base 17, a side wall 24 having an outer cylindrical surface, and a wall portion 22 mounted on wall 24 and extending further from the base 17 as does wall 24, first and second electrical terminals 11, 12 mounted in the body 10, a pair of parallel electrical connectors 13, 14 extending outwardly from the base 17, and electrically conducting means, for example stepped strips 15, 16 that connect the connectors 13, 14 to a respective terminal 11, 12. The first terminal 11 engages wall portion 22 and its outer end is further from the base 17 than that of the second terminal 12, the terminal 11 projecting beyond wall 24. As described, the wall portion 22 is disposed radially outside the wall 24 and is connected thereto via a flange 23. Rivets 35, 38 connect the strips 15, 16 to flange 23 and base 17 respectively. An insulating blade 40 ensures that the connectors 13, 14 engage in a socket in the correct manner. The terminals 11, 12 are situated in respective recesses 31, 32 separated by a partition wall 30, the terminals 11, 12 each including a tang 33, 36 which engages a respective rim 34, 37 to hold the terminals against movement towards the base 17. The adapter is particularly adapted for connecting a quartz-halogen filament in a vehicle lamp unit to a power source. The adapter is filled adjacent an aperture in a reflector of the lamp unit and a cover is fitted around a wall 21 of the adapter to seal against ingress of dust and/or water.</p> |
