An electrically heated multidec baking oven has separate heating elements for the top heat and for the bottom heat of each deck. Separate thermostats are provided for each top heat and for each bottom heat and, in addition, a common thermostat for all top heats and a common thermostat for all bottom heats. A switch can be used to change over from the separate to the common mode of heating. The same oven can thus be used both for different types of pastry and for the mass production of the same type.
