Spectacle frames pivoting system - has two elements articulated together with one element having spherical bearing surfaces

The hinges are esp. adapted for use in spectacle frames and they connect the temples to the frame carrying the lenses. There are two elements which are articulated with respect to each other. The first element (10) is spherical and fixed to the end of the lens-carrying frame (1). The second element (23, 23a) is connected to the temple. The first element has two bearing surface (12) with semi-spherical profiles while the second has two concave facets (23a) which pivot adjacent the bearing surfaces. The second element has a U-shaped transverse cross-section.
