An activated polymeric carrier useful for bonding high and low molecular weight ligands has at least one unit thereof of the formula: <IMAGE> +TR <IMAGE> wherein T represents atoms of the polymeric carrier; X is a divalent oxygen or sulfur atom, -NH-, -NHR5-, -CONH- or -CONR5-, wherein R5 is lower alkyl; R is independently hydrogen, hydroxyl, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, loweralkylthio, loweracylamino, nitro, cyano, carboxamide, loweralkylsulphonyl, loweralkoxycarbonyl, phenyl, trifluoromethyl or chloromethyl, provided that at least one R is halogen; and a is 1 or 2, b is 4-a, c is 0 or 1 and d is 2-c. |
