<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable even a nonprofessional user to access a computer at a speed higher than a keyboard or a mouse by detecting the direction of the line of sight of the user and operating the computer by combining the detected direction of the line of sight with the computer screen that is viewed by the line of sight. SOLUTION: A line-of-sight detector 4 selects the icons 3 and 3', etc., on a display screen 1 by a line 11 of sight through a viewing window. On the other hand, an eye 5 is irradiated by the ray of an infrared LED and the infrared ray reflected on the iris and an entire image of the eye 5 are formed into an image on a line-of-sight detecting CCD.
