A suction cleaner, e.g. of the stick type, has a casing 10 containing a motor fan unit 14 and a dust collector 15, the casing 10 being slidably supported on and adjustable along a tubular or channel-shaped shaft 11 between posifions at which a suction opening in the casing 10 is connectable to a suction cleaning implement. In the embodiment illustrated in Fig. 1 the suction opening is provided in a tubular member 27 which is connectable at all positions of adjustment of the casing 10 on the shaft 11 to a cleaning implement via a flexible hose 31 extending through the channel-shaped shaft 11. In an alternative embodiment the suction opening 39, Fig. 4, in the casing 10 is connectable to a selected one of two or more openings 42 in the tubular shaft 11 by a resilient connecting member 43 associated with a sealing ring 44, a cleaning implement being mounted at one end of the shaft 11. |
