PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device which can show traffic congestion information and route information to a driver in real time. SOLUTION: The navigation device which detects the current position of its own vehicle is provided with a traffic congestion judging means 102 which judged whether or not the vehicle is caught by a traffic jam, a traffic congestion information memory 105 which stored the traffic congestion information, and a communicate means 112 which exchanges the traffic congestion information with other vehicles. Then, the traffic information memory 105 stores traffic congestion information on a congested area judged by the traffic congestion judging means 102 and traffic congestion information obtained through the communication means 112, and the traffic congestion information stored in the traffic congestion information memory 105 is displayed. Thus, the detected traffic congestion information is sent to other vehicles and the traffic congestion information that other vehicles detect is received to grasp the traffic congestion state.
