The invention relates to a laser which consists of a first housing part (7) having a quality switching device (3) and an adjustable output mirror (4), and of a second housing part (5) having a laser rod (8) and a flash lamp (9). The housing parts (5, 7) form a pressure-tight structural unit in which the optical elements are accommodated such that they are protected against dust and moisture. In addition, the second housing part (5) is combined with the high-voltage (high-tension) part (2) to form an assembly, the triggering (ignition, starting) transformer (18) for the flash lamp (9) being accommodated in its own chamber (9) on one housing side and being connected by the shortest route, via a permanently fitted power-supply part (24), to the positive terminal (16) of the flash lamp (9). The second housing part (5) and the chamber (9) are closed in a sealed manner by a common cover (lid) (31). This avoids a high outlay for screening. The invention is generally suitable for laser arrangements. <IMAGE>
