METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PREVENTING MEANDERING OF STEEL STRIP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a slip between pinch rolls and a steel strip and the occurrence of the contraction to the steel strip. SOLUTION: The steel strip A is fastened by the upper and lower pinch rolls 5 between the position of welding the steel strips A and B and a bridle roll 4a when cutting the steel strip A. The steel strip A is subjected to tension by giving the pinch rolls 5 force in the direction reverse to the direction of feeding the steel strip A when the tail end of the strip A is fed at the bridle roll 4a after the steel strip A has been cut so that the meandering of the steel strip is prevented. The pinching force of the pinch rolls 5 is adjustable. The pinching force of the pinch rolls 5 is decreased when the cross-sectional area of the steel strip A is small and is increased when the cross-sectional area of the steel strip A is large.
