PURPOSE:To allow a spindle mechanism to attain stable rotating accuracy by fixing a bearing housing with the either one of an inner or outer ring as a reference, applying preload in a thrust direction so as to uniformly bring a bearing into contact with the inner and outer ring and assembling the spindle mechanism in that state. CONSTITUTION:First, the bearing housing 1 is fixed on an assembly jig 11 by a bolt 15, and an O-ring is put into the bearing fitting part of the housing 1 to apply an adhesive 17. Next the bearing 3b is put into an assembly jig 12 and fixed by an adapter 13 and a bolt 14 so that the inner ring of the bearing 3b will not move. While the adhesive 17 gets wet, the O-ring 10 is deformed between the housing 1 and the outer ring of the bearing 3b to lift the outer ring, and the bearing comes in contact with the inner ring. The adhesive 17 is dried in that state. After it dries, an upper side bearing assembly is removed out of the assembly jigs 11 and 12. It is assembled as a spindle mechanism, whereby its inner and outer rings come in contact with the bearing uniformly due to the force of a thrust preload spring 5.
