1,112,023. Container closures. W. R. GRACE & CO. 30 April, 1965 [28 Oct., 1964], No. 44035/64. Heading B8T. [Also in Division B5] In a process for the production of gasketed container closures, a pre-formed insert of a solid thermoplastic resilient material is introduced into a container closure which is warmed sufficiently to cause adhesion of the insert to the closure, and moulding the insert under pressure to the desired shape with a coldmoulding member, if necessary after further heating the closure. The resilient material used may be that disclosed in Specifications 1,112,025, 1,112,024 or 1,092,161; the material may include a blowing agent to provide a cellular gasket. A crown closure shell 11, to which a disc of solid thermoplastic resilient material has been centrally applied, is heated and fed to a moulding station where it is placed in a recessed holder 20 and moulded by a member 22 having pipes 24, 25 for a cooling fluid. |
