PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently carry out copying even under a power saving mode without being left only for warm-up time at the start of the copying with respect to a copying machine capable of forming images on a plurality of copying sheets carried in parallel. SOLUTION: In a fixing device, a heater and a temperature detection sensor, which correspond to a front carrying path area and a rear carrying path area, are provided, and control is exerted so that the surface temperature of the front carrying path area of a fixing roller is always maintained at a fixing temperature T1 and that of the rear carrying path area is maintained at a power saving temperature T2, which is lower than the fixing temperature T1, when the power saving mode is executed. To start copying under the power saving mode, a copying operation is carried out using the front carrying path, and also the rear carrying path area of the fixing roller is heated [an interval between (c) and (d)]. When the rear carrying path area reaches the fixing temperature T1 [point (d)] copying by parallel carrying is carried out by the use of both the carrying paths afterwards. |
