摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable damper for a vibration control structure capable of response reduction of both acceleration and displacement while maintaining a simple structure. SOLUTION: This variable damper 1 comprises a cylinder 2, a piston 3, and hydraulic chambers 4 provided on both sides of the piston 3. Two flow passages 5a and 5b are provided in parallel to connect both hydraulic chambers 4 to each other. On one flow passage 5a, an opening/closing control valve 6a changeable between full opening and full closure is provided. On the other flow passage 5b, an orifice 8 is serially provided with an opening/closing control valve 6b. By closing both the opening/closing control valves 6a and 6b, the maximum damping coefficient Cmax is realized. By opening the opening/closing control valve 6b while closing the opening/closing control valve 6a, a middle damping coefficient Cmid prescribed by the orifice 8 is realized. By opening the opening/closing control valve 6a, the minimum damping coefficient Cmin is realized. This variable damper 1 is incorporated in a column-beam frame in a structure through a brace 13.
