The invention provides a topical pediculicidal composition for the treatment of human and animal and other arthropod ectoparasites comprising an insecticidally effective amount of at least one active ingredient in combination with a bioadhesive cationic polymer, having affinity for the hair and providing retention of the active ingredient in the hair.
