PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a constant quantity of ink layer forming liquid stably at all times to gravure cells, and perform high speed application by carrying out coating operation as brushing the surface of a gravure roll after liquid transfer. SOLUTION: An ink bath or feeder 2 is filled or supplied with thermal transfer recording layer forming liquid (ink layer forming liquid). This is then transferred to a gravure roll 1, excessive ink layer forming liquid except cells on the surface of the gravure roll is scraped by a doctor blade 3 so that the ink layer forming liquid remains only in the surface cells of the gravure roll 1; subsequently, a resin film or the like 6 is put into press contact with the gravure roll having ink layer forming liquid in its cells, thus transferring ink layer forming liquid into the resin film or the like 6. The gravure roll 1 after the transfer is cleaned by a brush 5 in the roll surface and surface cells in particular. Accordingly, the surface of the transferred gravure roll is subjected to brushing operation and, on the other hand, an application of ink layer forming liquid is conducted. |
