PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the productivity and to make maintainable high image quality by controlling the switching of a system speed mode based on mode switching time, image information after the present image, and so on in the case where, when the present image is formed, the previous mode is low speed mode and the present image can be processed at a high speed. SOLUTION: A second original (present original) is pre-scanned, (S103), and based on image data by the pre-scan, the present original is judged whether it is full-colored or monochrome-colored (S104). In the case of full color (S105, NO), a first original (previous original) is judged whether it is full-colores or monochrome-colored. In the case of full color, a proper scanning process is performed keeping a low speed mode and image formation is carried out for a specified register-number (S109). In the case the previous mode is monochrome- colored (S11), a system speed is switched to the low speed mode, and thereafter proper scan and subsequently image formation for a specified register-number are carried out (S109). |
